چکیده

A group of rational individuals with common interest need to select one of two outcomes. The optimal decision depends on whether certain premises or pieces of evidence are established as being true, and each member receives a noisy signal of the truth value of the relevant premises. Should the group reach a decision by voting whether each premise is true or false, or should they simply vote on the outcome? We show that for any finite number of individuals, the premise-based voting rule is more efficient in aggregating information than the outcome-based rule. However, generically, the gain from using the premise-based over the outcome-based rule can only be marginal when numerous individuals express independent opinions. Indeed, the outcome-based game is almost always asymptotically efficient. ∗Brown University, Department of Economics, Providence, Rhode Island [email protected], kfir [email protected]. Merging Judgments and the Problem of Truth-Tracking

The problem of the aggregation of consistent individual judgments on logically interconnected propositions into a collective judgment on the same propositions has recently drawn much attention. The difficulty lies in the fact that a seemingly reasonable aggregation procedure, such as propositionwise majority voting, cannot ensure an equally consistent collective outcome. The literature on judgm...

Strategy-proof Judgment Aggregation

Which rules for aggregating judgments on logically connected propositions are manipulable and which not? In this paper, we introduce a preference-free concept of non-manipulability and contrast it with a preference-theoretic concept of strategy-proofness. We characterize all non-manipulable and all strategy-proof judgment aggregation rules and prove an impossibility theorem similar to the Gibba...

GGRA: a grouped gossip-based reputation aggregation algorithm

An important issue in P2P networks is the existence of malicious nodes that decreases the performance of such networks. Reputation system in which nodes are ranked based on their behavior, is one of the proposed solutions to detect and isolate malicious (low ranked) nodes. Gossip Trust is an interesting previously proposed algorithm for reputation aggregation in P2P networks based on t...

A comprehensive experimental comparison of the aggregation techniques for face recognition

In face recognition, one of the most important problems to tackle is a large amount of data and the redundancy of information contained in facial images. There are numerous approaches attempting to reduce this redundancy. One of them is information aggregation based on the results of classifiers built on selected facial areas being the most salient regions from the point of view of classificati...
